Summer Courses

Summer courses are bespoke and respond to students’ academic needs. Throughout the intensive summer course training, we deliver exercises and training to students, enabling them to improve their music knowledge and concepts within a short period of time. Prospective Year 12 to Year 13 / Grade 11 to Grade 12 / Secondary 5 to Secondary 6 students are welcome to join the summer courses. The IB DP Music summer course modules we offer aim at enhancing students’ skills in the following areas in support of the four syllabus components in IB DP Music:

  • Performing: Solo and Ensemble Training
  • Composing
  • Listening
  • Instrumental and Vocal Coaching
  • Research skills

 

Details of Summer Courses:

Lesson Hours:

40 intensive lecture hours for each specific module (Year 12 to Year 13 / Grade 11 to Grade 12 / Secondary 5 to Secondary 6)


  • Exploring Music in Context (SL and HL)
  • Experimenting with Music (SL and HL)
  • Presenting Music (SL and HL)
  • The Contemporary Music Maker (HL only)
  • Performing: Solo and Ensemble Training
  • Composing
  • Listening
  • Instrumental and Vocal Coaching
  • Research skills

Course Timeline:

Summer vacation

Lesson Mode:

Live lesson or online lesson

Mixture of live and online lesson


This provides flexibility to students who might be traveling during summer holiday but still wish to join the intensive summer courses.

Duration:

2 hours in each lesson. Total 14 lessons for each summer intensive course.

Lesson Contents:

We prepare students on a regular basis for Performing, Composing, and Appraising.

Lesson Time:

We offer a mixture of lesson time for students to choose.


Summer courses can be delivered in live lessons, online lessons, or both. Class size varies from 2 to 6 students.
